ABOUT US
We Support Women Entrepreneurs, Young Female Leaders, and Professional Women.
Citizens Advancement Initiative (CAI] is a non- profit organization established in 2018 to respond to the limited collective engagement of female professionals and entrepreneurs in governance, development and social justice in Kenya and Uganda. We do this through strategic and innovative approaches that skill, connect and give voice to generations of women professionals and business leaders–connecting, facilitating and empowering them to leverage business resources and technology to shape public opinion and influence policy and practice in both the public and private sectors. These include research that informs policy making and action; advocacy, capacity building, and networking. We believe this will enable this category of women to have substantive voice in decision-making as well as increase their collective power and influence in championing government and private sector accountability, sustainable development and social justice.
Our Mission
Our mission is to promote emancipatory social entrepreneurship that empowers business and professional women; and upscales their collective action by strengthening their agency, role and leadership in the pursuit of accountable governance, sustainable development and social justice.
Our Vision
We envision a just and sustainable society where women professionals and entrepreneurs harness their collective power and voice to access and influence government; and impact social change.
Our Values
Our programming and management are built on six core values that define what we work on, who we work with and how do out work.
Diversity
We are a diverse group of businesswomen and entrepreneurs determined to build a strongly inclusive culture which respects staff and partners for who they are – regardless of gender, age, race, religion, disability or sexual orientation. We believe that our contributions are richer because of our diversity and seek to accelerate progress in equality of opportunity and women’s empowerment, because as two of our most material issues, they are central to our growth and our social impact.Integrity
We are honest, and transparent; and are committed to engaging, evaluating and communicating the outcomes of our work with integrity. We are committed to the integrity of systems and programs and hold ourselves to higher ethical standards. We are committed to train our staff and people we serve regularly on our ethics and on ethical behavior.Transparency and Accountability:
We acknowledge and apply honesty, transparency and accountability in all our interactions at all levels of our work.
